I was born, raised and I currently reside in Ankara. I have been working professionally in media and publications. I take photos of streets and cities around the world; the way the lights meet city life is fascinating.

Then, during this pandemic - when we all had to stay confined and turned inward, when I felt lonely and insecure - came along these remarkable women with closed eyes, making an appearance through my fingers on paper, bursting in colour. And now, the time has come for them to greet the world.

Eyes...
...look as well as hear the unheard and speak the unspoken, see what’s real, sense what’s not visible...

Women...
...want to be understood, to be loved, to be cared for. Sometimes with a flower or a caressing touch to the cheek or an affectionate glance. A word of love...that’s all it would take to calm the storm revving inside her...

Women with eyes closed...
...is the story of the inner world of women, who cannot bear to witness violence, injustice, inequality, discrimination, abuse, evil against them. When they close their eyes, shutting off the disappointment, the anguish, the adversity they face in their lives, in the world they live in, they unleash the rich colours of love, compassion, creativity, fertility, womanhood as buoyant and progressive as life itself. Closing their eyes is not evasion but rather a way of existence, power, uprising, faith and feeling love against all odds...

Wishing for a world we will never afraid to look and see...

“Women with eyes closed“ ile görmekten korkmayacağımız bir dünyada buluşmak dileğiyle…
